After months of Beta testing, we are pleased announce that the new AOL.com Homepage has been released to all users! Today's release includes a mix of popular Beta features plus a few new ones that we're really excited about, and hope you feel the same.
And while it's tempting to outline all of the features released today, we don't want to overwhelm you with information. We will, instead, introduce a new feature each week here on the Homepage Blog so we can go into greater detail about the feature and supporting functionality, as well as get more focused feedback and comments from you along the way.
So this week's Feature Spotlight is on one of the new homepage customization options; the Color Picker.
The new default homepage color was one of the commented topics during our Beta period. And while we went with a more neutral color (ecru, yes ecru), your opinions were far from "neutral". Some of you love the new default color, and some of you hate it. And while we appreciate your passion, color is a very personal and subjective thing. So we're getting out of your way and giving you a set of color options so you can decide what color makes the AOL.com Homepage more like your home.
And changing the color of your homepage couldn't be easier. Just go to the color picker in the top right corner of the page and click on the color "chicklet" you like best. It's that easy! So if you're feeling inspired, go back to AOL.com and change the color of your homepage now!
We will be introducing new colors in the near future, so let us know what color options you want to see on the homepage. And while you're at it, let us know what you think of the current set. We hope you visit us again for next week's Feature Spotlight.
Best,
Lisa
AOL.com Product Lead
P.S. We're still seeing a lot of comments regarding Mail issues. And while Mail is featured prominently on the AOL.com Homepage, my team does not support the Mail product and can't help resolve problems. The best and fastest way for you to get help with Mail related issues is to go to the Mail Technical Support Msg. Board for assistance.
My Name is Lisa and I'm the Product Lead for AOL.COM. In short, I lead the team that designs, builds the new versions of AOL.com and make sure that current experience run smoothly. My mission (the team's mission) is to build the best home page for you and everyone that visits AOL.com. This is definitely NOT a one person operation. It takes a village! And I'll be introducing you to the team behind the scenes in the coming weeks.

22. I am sick of the homepage changing. You need to leave well enough alone. It was fine the last few times. I hate the new email, it doesn't work right and is hard to read with all the different blocks. Yahoo is much better and that is why I use it more. Find something and stick with it!!!!

23. Quit changing things! I don't have time to study a new page every morning when I log on. This morning I can't even find the "sign in" button!

24. In addition to how much I hate this new version, who ever thought that a list of contacts not in alphabetical order was the way to go? You obviously have too much time on your hands if you find this helpful. Your team should visit the Wizard at Oz to find a brain. I absolutely hate it !!!

25. Since the newest "live" version of AOL.com went up on 7/31/07 I have had numerous times when the page will not load. IE7 and Firefox both report that they cannot display the page and they suggest that the website is encountering problems - well, DUH! If I do finally get the page to load half the time there is no sign-in link. I can get webmail to load if I just go to the mail.aol.com URL and then sign-in, but the AOL.com page is virtually useless.

26. I hate the new home page. It is dull and not user friendly. I kept the aol because I didn't want to change my mail page and you changed it for me. I do not appreciate the change. If it ain't broke, don't fix it ! You fixed it and made it awful !!

29. AOL - Put this back in BETA!, I have the same issues as most everyone else, BUGS, BUGS, BUGS. Freezes up, "windows explorer not responding" messages, constant restarts required. Switching screen names works sporadically at best. These problems are not my computer.
I'd be O.K. with the site changes if it WORKED!

30. The new AOL responds much slower. Also, when I click on a news story, no information shows. The screen just says done. The top stories section does not work correctly. The arrow is slow to return if you click on a story for more information. When you return back to the top stories section, the arrow prompt is gone and you can't go forward or backward.

31. IT IS HORRIBLE. WAY TOO SLOW. TAKES FOREVER TO LOAD ANYTHING. I THINK AOL HAS LOST ANOTHER CUSTOMER.

33. Looks a lot like yahoo.

34. Personally, I liked the old page better. I know that in today's society we're always looking for new and improved but seriously, how many times are we going to change this?
I like the color changing thingy, but honestly, i could do without it just to have the old page back. I liked the newsreel instead of having to scroll to get the other types of news, it just flashed before my eyes. Please bring that back...

35. i understand that your development team does not support email
however you should be able to face off with them and be our voice since i cannot access email at all from your new page.
also you are getting a lot of bad press because of these hiccups. no one is able to appreciate the changes you make/made because they are frustrated. you would think it is in your best interestto get involved.

36. this is a copy of Yahoo home page copycats

37. I don't like it. To hard to find stuff, to busy, not user friendly. Can we have an option of having the old home page?
If I liked Yahoo's site, I would be a member there and not here!

38. I am joining the bandwagon and agree with the majority that the so called new AOL(which i feel is the current YAHOO... sorry) is not all that it is cracked up to be. First of all, by the time I check my emails, it's Christmas already. Why does it take so long to process? The speed factor is something the team needs to work on. Everything seems so slow, and there is way too many stuff going on in the page. It's just a tad bit overwhelming. How about you come up with something more brilliant and innovative which is YOURS and not someone else's?

39. Why does your page look and work exactly like yahoo??? You can changes colors on yahoo too BTW so nothing different there. The old one was better because it was DIFFERENT!!!!
