After months of Beta testing, we are pleased announce that the new AOL.com Homepage has been released to all users! Today's release includes a mix of popular Beta features plus a few new ones that we're really excited about, and hope you feel the same.
And while it's tempting to outline all of the features released today, we don't want to overwhelm you with information. We will, instead, introduce a new feature each week here on the Homepage Blog so we can go into greater detail about the feature and supporting functionality, as well as get more focused feedback and comments from you along the way.
So this week's Feature Spotlight is on one of the new homepage customization options; the Color Picker.
The new default homepage color was one of the commented topics during our Beta period. And while we went with a more neutral color (ecru, yes ecru), your opinions were far from "neutral". Some of you love the new default color, and some of you hate it. And while we appreciate your passion, color is a very personal and subjective thing. So we're getting out of your way and giving you a set of color options so you can decide what color makes the AOL.com Homepage more like your home.
And changing the color of your homepage couldn't be easier. Just go to the color picker in the top right corner of the page and click on the color "chicklet" you like best. It's that easy! So if you're feeling inspired, go back to AOL.com and change the color of your homepage now!
We will be introducing new colors in the near future, so let us know what color options you want to see on the homepage. And while you're at it, let us know what you think of the current set. We hope you visit us again for next week's Feature Spotlight.
Best,
Lisa
AOL.com Product Lead
P.S. We're still seeing a lot of comments regarding Mail issues. And while Mail is featured prominently on the AOL.com Homepage, my team does not support the Mail product and can't help resolve problems. The best and fastest way for you to get help with Mail related issues is to go to the Mail Technical Support Msg. Board for assistance.
My Name is Lisa and I'm the Product Lead for AOL.COM. In short, I lead the team that designs, builds the new versions of AOL.com and make sure that current experience run smoothly. My mission (the team's mission) is to build the best home page for you and everyone that visits AOL.com. This is definitely NOT a one person operation. It takes a village! And I'll be introducing you to the team behind the scenes in the coming weeks.

381. For those of us who have been using this antiquated server since '97 or even prior I feel I speak for all of us when I say STOP CHANGING THE FORMAT! Some of us use this server for business purposes(though are considering MSN or Comcast since you can't seem to leave well enough alone) and do not have the time or patience to play with this server when we are trying to conduct business....especially without having received any notice that we will have to deal with slower than normal usage times in lieu of your "testing". Please stop or you will lose more business than you already have lost. We loved the old product. It was easy to navigate, fast and simple. If the kids who are subscibing want all the bells, whistles and ipod crap than give them the 'option' to set THEIR server up like that. Your testing is costing us business persons valuable time and money.

383. How pathetic! You report Rove vandals as "pransters."
Tell me, did you ever aspire to report "facts?" -johnhardin3@aol.com

384. I cannot believe that after using AOL for 7 years the QUALITY of your service still is SO bad.
As a NON dial up customer....AOL speed is so deficient. You cannot even read your homepage news as it takes FOREVER to come up. I have 2 other internet services and they are so fast, they leave you in the DARK AGES. I have put up with all the AOL deficiencies all these years as I did not want to change my email address and have to notify the world...but I think the end is near for AOL & me....unless you can tell me why your service is so slow...why AOL constantly cuts out and that you have something new & improved coming out SOON....and why do I still get billed for this bad service?

385. I must add to the list of "hating" the new homepage. The ads REALLY bother me. It is much more awkward & cumbersome to use. I dislike where the cursor ends up when I choose "reply" - it should be in the message box - not the address box. It is NOT a better product & not user friendly.

386. I can still not understand why they have not corrected the welcome screen size.I shrink it down and set "remember" window size and position and it still goes back to where it wants to.The "old" welcome screen had a setting to enlarge or not. When are they going to address our complaints?

387. I do not like seeing my email page, or any other AOL pages, in SPANISH - I want to see them in English! English - the language of America. If I lived in a country where Spanish was the national language, I would not complain - but in America, English is the language.
There, I got it off my chest.

388. Do not like the new screen. Have to scroll constantly. Mail log-in a pain. Too much on screen. Confusing. Hate it! How do I get my old 9.0 back?

389. I don't like it. It's to large. You are trying, to change to the RR format and I don't like it. I liked AOL the way it was, that is why I choose it,also it's easier to understand. plus rr doesn't have delete all, you have to click on trash for each one and that takes time. I can't get my virus protection that was free and I hate the new Vista.

391. I work at a major university with a large central computer system, and tons of tech support, and AOL still runs SLOW!!! Please change the HOME PAGE and the AOL Mail BACK to the old way.

392. The news section on the homepage is broken. It keeps putting up the news from 7 days ago, but a screen refresh gets today's news. This is really annoying.
The financial news section is also doing strange things. On occasion, it opens a new window instead of working in the current window. So the back key doesn't get you back to the home page, only to the finance page.

394. Can somebody out there please help? Yikes, I cannot get over 150 pictures out of the "shoebox" on the email. I think it is great, but they keep building up, and nowhere can I find simple instructions on how to delete them.
Everything else is alright by me!

395. I almost never go to aol.com but today I wanted to do my periodic check of e-mail. I like both the aol.com page and webmail, both are very nice and I may even come here more often. The reason I stopped coming was due to webmail crashing Firefox.
