After months of Beta testing, we are pleased announce that the new AOL.com Homepage has been released to all users! Today's release includes a mix of popular Beta features plus a few new ones that we're really excited about, and hope you feel the same.
And while it's tempting to outline all of the features released today, we don't want to overwhelm you with information. We will, instead, introduce a new feature each week here on the Homepage Blog so we can go into greater detail about the feature and supporting functionality, as well as get more focused feedback and comments from you along the way.
So this week's Feature Spotlight is on one of the new homepage customization options; the Color Picker.
The new default homepage color was one of the commented topics during our Beta period. And while we went with a more neutral color (ecru, yes ecru), your opinions were far from "neutral". Some of you love the new default color, and some of you hate it. And while we appreciate your passion, color is a very personal and subjective thing. So we're getting out of your way and giving you a set of color options so you can decide what color makes the AOL.com Homepage more like your home.
And changing the color of your homepage couldn't be easier. Just go to the color picker in the top right corner of the page and click on the color "chicklet" you like best. It's that easy! So if you're feeling inspired, go back to AOL.com and change the color of your homepage now!
We will be introducing new colors in the near future, so let us know what color options you want to see on the homepage. And while you're at it, let us know what you think of the current set. We hope you visit us again for next week's Feature Spotlight.
Best,
Lisa
AOL.com Product Lead
P.S. We're still seeing a lot of comments regarding Mail issues. And while Mail is featured prominently on the AOL.com Homepage, my team does not support the Mail product and can't help resolve problems. The best and fastest way for you to get help with Mail related issues is to go to the Mail Technical Support Msg. Board for assistance.
My Name is Lisa and I'm the Product Lead for AOL.COM. In short, I lead the team that designs, builds the new versions of AOL.com and make sure that current experience run smoothly. My mission (the team's mission) is to build the best home page for you and everyone that visits AOL.com. This is definitely NOT a one person operation. It takes a village! And I'll be introducing you to the team behind the scenes in the coming weeks.

63. Hi. I feel the new AOL does not work as well as the old style. Well you can not really call it 'old', since it was recently changed! This AOL does not read any zip codes from my area, it claims all are invaild. I have also found many other smaller problems with this AOL. Not a big fan.

64. What a joke. Lisa Edward, you and your team of villagers should fold up your tent and move on. AOL is so screwed up at this point, no one in their right mind would stay around for further abuse. Pay me $9.95/month and I'll give you thirty days to fix your mess. How 'bout an email system that functions? Hummm? Why else would people use AOL. No functioning email, no AOL. It's that simple. Hello, Time Warner!?? Is anyone paying attention to this mess?

71. Hummm... Actually not bad... I Switched over and brought AOL up on my Windows Internet Explorer and it began working fine. Everything functions. Been at it for hours and it takes some getting used to. Also transferred my Favorite Places - as it doesn't seem to be on the new format. Seems to work much smoother than the old website... Anyway that's my experience. Was a bit too much too fast tho'...

72. This is by far the worst version of AOL to date. I hate the main page, I hate the layout, it takes forever for mail to load and when it does I have to close a popup for AOL Today before I can even view what's in my inbox. Also, when I do view an email and go back to my inbox it reloads mail. This is very frustrating. More spam is getting through than ever.....why oh why couldn't you just leave well enough alone?? I've been a member of AOL for 10 years, what a pathetic reward for choosing this service. Change it back to the old version. New is not necessarily better.

73. It sucks give me back my old screen. No wonder i left AOl for Comcast

74. I hate it. Pick one and stick to it. When you click on the tabs or arrows on the screen it is slow and freezes and always says that it is unavailable at the time. Change it and stick to one. Opening the emails in the same window is annoying.

75. IT SUCKS! It is slow as hell, every move I make takes almost a minute to execute. What are you people doing. How long and how many comments do you need to change it back to somthing that WORKS. Are you people stupid. CHANGE THIS CRAP! CHANGE THIS CRAP! CHANGE THIS CRAP!

76. I can't say that I absolutely hate this new version, and I certainly haven't had the problems with loading, freezing, etc., but I have no idea why you guys keep changing everything all of the time!! What's that saying?---If it ain't broke..." And, if you web guys are TRULY listening, by the many posts here, its not a hit!

77. Your remark that a different group does email and, in effect, that it isn't your responsibility is the epitome of why AOL isn't doing very well. What we need is ONE FACE FOR AOL - one place to register difficulites, not a place where a message about a problem gets a response to contact somebody else!

78. AOL is a total disappointment to me and is getting cronically worse as time goes by.

79. I really think that the "new AOL" is much worse than it ever was. I read through all the other posts and the majority of the people seem to dislike the changes. So instead of repeating all the complaints, I am going to ask a question? What is AOL going to do to improve the situation? You have changed your product and now are getting negative feedback - are you going to listen to your customers and fix the problem? I think a speedy solution needs to occur before you lose loyal customers - I have had AOL since the early to mid 90's. Please listen to the people and make the appropriate changes. Thank you.

80. What happened to my list of favorites?????????????? Why the change? What was wrong with the way it was? Talk about lost productivity? What ever happened to plain old CUSTOMER SERVICE instead of let's see how complicated we can make things!!! Doesn't appear that you have very many supportive members.
