After months of Beta testing, we are pleased announce that the new AOL.com Homepage has been released to all users! Today's release includes a mix of popular Beta features plus a few new ones that we're really excited about, and hope you feel the same.
And while it's tempting to outline all of the features released today, we don't want to overwhelm you with information. We will, instead, introduce a new feature each week here on the Homepage Blog so we can go into greater detail about the feature and supporting functionality, as well as get more focused feedback and comments from you along the way.
So this week's Feature Spotlight is on one of the new homepage customization options; the Color Picker.
The new default homepage color was one of the commented topics during our Beta period. And while we went with a more neutral color (ecru, yes ecru), your opinions were far from "neutral". Some of you love the new default color, and some of you hate it. And while we appreciate your passion, color is a very personal and subjective thing. So we're getting out of your way and giving you a set of color options so you can decide what color makes the AOL.com Homepage more like your home.
And changing the color of your homepage couldn't be easier. Just go to the color picker in the top right corner of the page and click on the color "chicklet" you like best. It's that easy! So if you're feeling inspired, go back to AOL.com and change the color of your homepage now!
We will be introducing new colors in the near future, so let us know what color options you want to see on the homepage. And while you're at it, let us know what you think of the current set. We hope you visit us again for next week's Feature Spotlight.
Best,
Lisa
AOL.com Product Lead
P.S. We're still seeing a lot of comments regarding Mail issues. And while Mail is featured prominently on the AOL.com Homepage, my team does not support the Mail product and can't help resolve problems. The best and fastest way for you to get help with Mail related issues is to go to the Mail Technical Support Msg. Board for assistance.
My Name is Lisa and I'm the Product Lead for AOL.COM. In short, I lead the team that designs, builds the new versions of AOL.com and make sure that current experience run smoothly. My mission (the team's mission) is to build the best home page for you and everyone that visits AOL.com. This is definitely NOT a one person operation. It takes a village! And I'll be introducing you to the team behind the scenes in the coming weeks.

122. I loved AOL because I didn't have to scroll. Now, not only do I have to scroll up and down, I have to scroll the the right. I hate it. Can't anyone keep things clean and compact? You are trying to cram to much into one page.

124. Hi Lesa,
I'm really frustrated. I can't get back into a blog entry to edit it. That button doesn't seem available any more. I have a blog http://journals.aol.com/jenleetalk/TopblondetakingtheDay/
that I've been making entries in since Jan. '05 and have never not been able to edit what I just entered. It's not showing all the photos I put, the photos on are on the right side of the page - I want them in the middle - and I can't edit it. There is a type in it and I want to send it out to my friends but need to edit it first. Please help. Thank you. Jenleetalk@aol.com

127. I'm not happy with it at all. Change is good when it is for the better but this isn't for the better.
1. Where is the IM screen so you can see when your friends sign on??
Truly I just don't like it, looks to much like yahoo & that's not good. :o)

128. AOL is a sorry excuse for an ISP. I canceled my account in June because I got a better provider and I have not used the account since May yet they are still charging me. I called them about the issue and they claimed the account had not been canceled and the charges were valid so I would have to pay for the month of July even though I have NOT used the account since MAY and received a message online saying the account had been canceled back in June. It appears to me that AOL only cares about their money and not the customers.

129. As much as i think i would like the new aol, I haven't been able to experience it! everytime i go to aol.com, which is A LOT since it is my homepage, it askes me if i would like to take a tour of hte new aol or if i just want to go there. there is also a close button. the only option that works is the tour one. I still haven't been able to use the real new site. it is really annoying and i have to find alternate paths to get to my mail. What is going on here and how do i fix this problem?

130. How often do Lisa, etc go out to an independent location and try using AOL on the web? Ever go to an office with a firewall and access AOL? Ever realize your insistence on pushing useless pop-up ads and cookies down to users simply alienates customers and drives them to Yahoo, MSN, or other ISPs like Verizon? Why don't you create the obvious - AOLlite - for just plain email (and simple ads-you gotta make some money)?
Come to my office anytime to see the real world !

131. Your new web pages are horrible. I never had any problem with your old website, but are constantly having problems with this AOL Beta site. Things take forever to download and many times I get messages that I cannot continue because the connection has been interrupted. I have been with AOL for years, and if these problems are not corrected, I will drop AOL.

137. Are you trying to run people off? Stop the constant change. It is NOT making AOL any better, user friendly or keeping up with other services. We get used to one set up and you CHANGE it! Pain In The ___!

138. Lisa,
Is there anyway they could add some features so you could get to your "Favorite places, Buddy List (set up, other),
Mail" (on AOL),
List of all" Communitys" out there?
Thanks.
