Today we introduced 6 new Preview Panels that are now available to everyone and we are really excited about them. Added to the list are new Preview Panels for eBay, Finance, Health, Movies, Music, and TMZ.
To refresh everyone's memory, Preview Panels are the 4 large buttons at the top right of the page that expand when you mouse over them. What's great about Preview Panels is that they present a lot of information without taking up a lot of space and cluttering your homepage. Just rollover the Preview Panel to see the content you want without having to click off to another page. Plus, customization options allow you to choose the Preview Panels you want to appear on your homepage.
To select one of these new panels, simply click on the small triangle in the upper right of any of the Preview Panels (except Mail which is permanent – everyone wants to see their e-mail right?). Once you choose a new Preview Panel, your web browser will remember your choices and load these up for you every time you open the page.

We hope that you have a chance to try them all and see which ones you like best. Over the next few weeks, we will highlight each of the new Preview Panels on the blog to give you a better understanding of the new features and functionality.
So we really want to hear your feedback on the all of the new Preview Panels. Do you like them? Are they easy to use? Are there things you wish they could do to make it even better? Are there other Preview Panels that you don't see that you would find useful?
We look forward to hearing from you!!!
Sanjay

21. I don't like the little tabs either. Desktop has not been user friendly. It still has operational problems. AOL 9.0 was better operationally. Desktop is alright when it works. No one AT AOL TEACH will work to improve it. We need a newer version of AOL DESKTOP and FAST

22. Thanks for the comments everyone.
Seems as though there are a few comments around the AOL Desktop product in our blog. While Im one of the product managers for the AOL.com site, these questions are unfortunately outside my area of expertise. But I do want to point you all in the right direction, so you may want to try your post on the Desktop blog at http://desktopblog.aol.com/ and hopefully you can get your questions answered.

31. Will it ever be possible to organize my AOL favorites with the click of the mouse(alphabetize)? I know that I can do it the old fashion way but who has that kind of time anymore.

32. AOL really sucks ! Their 'new' mail system is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen !!! Why now you you get back everything you wrote to someone ?? That is ridiculous when you're trying to send messages to someones cell phone !!! AOL has gotten pathetic, I'm seriously thinking of kicking them to the curb.

33. I hate AOL. I hate you, I hate that it was so hard to even figure out how to post here. Ever imagine that it might be useful to describe HOW TO ADD the Preview Panel to your Homepage? I have read over your entire burbling babbling blurb three time over the last few days and I still don't see that piece of information.
I agree will all the other postings that remark that you are FIDDLING and CHANGING things constantly as if one has nothing to do but keep up with your bumbling. I used to think it was me, then I realized that AOL was changing without notice, my goodness, even my computer savvy friends were upset that their e-mail didn't work the way they were accustomed to.
Now I think of people with an AOL address (like me) as stupid, inflexible herd animals, and I pity the fools. I envy people with a g-mail or Earthlink address and I am going to get one myself because even if it takes all of a day to get rid of AOL it will be better than being killed by inches on a daily basis by AOL this way. I never wanted to have more than one e-mail address in my life, but you have beat me down and finally lost me, and I never give up on a relationship!

34. O,
thank you for your message. Im very sorry that you've had trouble figuring out how to customize your preview panels and have had other frustrations as well.
To address the first issue, the preview panels are already there on your page at AOL.com with the default choices of mail, weather, radio, and video. Are you seeing those? In the top corner of each of the three boxes (except mail), you'll see a little triangle that when clicked gives you the choices for new options. If the problem is that you dont see little triangles let me know. Its possible that you are in what we call "screen reader-friendly mode" which takes some of the complexity away from the page for ease of reading for people needing accessibility assistance (blind users, etc). If this is happening, try going to http://www.aol.com/?sr=0&; to reset that. Please let me know if you are still having problems.
As far as the other frustrations, we try to make changes to the site to meet the feedback that we get. As you can imagine, for everyone that likes a new option, there's somebody else that liked it the way it was. That is why we are providing more things like the Preview Panels where you can change it if you want to to use the new cool features, and if not, just leave it the way you always had it. Im sorry that youve been frustrated and want you to know that we are listening to your feedback.

37. Is there way to keep the color scheme from going back to the original scheme every time I log on?
Posted at 9:43AM on Feb 11th 2008 by Heather
38. Heather,
if you are using the small color choice boxes at the top right corner of the page, your web browser will remember your choice each time you come back as long as you don't clear your cookies. Are you using a shared public computer or your own private computer? The other thing that could be happening if on a shared workstation is that someone else is coming in after you and changing the colors to something else

40. I just wanted to say (I LOVE AOL!). I also have been injoying the changes and up grade on my windows (SO THANK YOU AOL). This is the best internet service provider there is. For those people that don't like AOL. Get your internet through someone else. No one is making you have aol. It is only by choice that I have AOL and it's your choice too. So shut up the crying and boo hooing. THINK ABOUT THAT THE NEXT TIME YOU DECIDE TO COMPLAIN*
