You may have noticed that we've made some major changes to the home page. And if you haven't, we're in the process of rolling them out to everyone in the coming weeks. So change is coming soon.
We've spent several months working hard to design an experience that makes it easy for you to access the things YOU care about most – right from your AOL.com home page. So, we are opening our site to include features you've told us are important to you -- whether it's access to different email accounts or your favorite Web sites. You're stuff is as important as our (AOL) stuff.
A little over a month ago we introduced Gmail and Yahoo! mail previews to the AOL.com home page. We received a lot of positive feedback from you when we introduced the feature so we knew we were on to something.
Today, we are pleased to introduce more features that, we hope, will save you time and make your online routine a little easier and more relevant. You'll now find access to some of your favorite Social Networks, an RSS Feed Browser that lets you read news from other Web sites, customizable navigation, enhanced Local information featuring real-time news and some fun new themes -- all available right on your AOL.com home page.
We want to thank you for your feedback. It helped us build the site you see today. We'd like to keep the conversation going and continue listening to what you like, don't like and really wish you could have on your homepage. So please leave comments on the blog or send us feedback.
We hope enjoy the new AOL.com home page. And if you want to learn more about the new features, click on the links below. Or, sit back, relax and watch the Page Tour. Enjoy!

I think change is good. But I don't think we should have to do without the services we once had. If would be different if this was a BETA version. It should be... The bugs are definitely not worked out of this new version. I want a rebate for all my troubles. Why am I paying the same and getting less? Cool features, but looks aren't everything. We should get notice if our information is going to be wiped clean. Now no personal websites?

AOL gave enough notice on shutting down that option. Why are you all paying for AOL? I quit paying for AOL a few years back(remember when they had the GOLD RUSH?)

The title says, how to retreive your files from FTP. There is NO info on how to do so. I had a regular members.aol page up since about 1996 or so. Now it's GONE? Just more crap from aol. Pages splashed with so much clutter, you can't find anyting. Maybe I won't be able to find how to pay the $12 aol fee as well. JERKS.

Typical AOL....this is why I cancelled my $12.95 month service...try to call in for help..impossible to talk to a human, they keep refering you to online or email help. AOL used to be a good service, and now it's gone to crap and is getting worse every month. I'm finding a new browser. Good Luck to all of you that stay with this sinking ship.

It is obvious from from reading the comments on your closing the Homepage and to your response that you have little intrest in your long time suscribers. I have been with Aol practically since they started. Check my e-mail address and billing and you will see that it is so. First you outsourced your tech service and it then became as useful as trash. Next you dropped your disks of Aol 9.0 security edition which was the last good disk you put out. Now you drop your homepage service to substitute some other service that is of no use to many of your long time users like me. In other words you effectively are saying to those of us who have stayed with you, "screw you we don't want or need you. Your preferences don't matter" Well since irt is obvious that those at Corporate Headquarters and you wish to make your site only a trash site for music and video downloaders and usless for the rest of us I suppose we should all consider whether we should go to another site as many of your past suscribers have. I will tell you honestly that I have been told by many past users that they have dropped your site because of your now poor service and terrible Tech support. I suppose you do not really care what I say or whether I drop your service. On thing I am sure of is that my e-mail will have little to no effect on your decision to drop the homepage. I think you should restore it. I will be also calling Corporate Headquarters this comming week to express my thoughts on what your company has become from the good one it was when it started

I do not like the fact the curser lands on the search space so that if I try to use the arrow to move on the page I get a browsse pate. I hate it.

Yes, I agree...AOL has done itself tremendous damage. I can't begin to tell you all how upset I am at having lost my business website which had been up on members dot aol since 1997. I've been a member since 1996 and at $26 per month for full service, I've been shafted. Gee...thanks a lot AOL! It's really REALLY sad, that the best online provider has sold out and is NOT the same AOL we all grew up with. Change is okay, but not at the expense of PAYING customers! DO you even READ these comments AOL???? You're going down in flames unless you repair this mess somehow.

Why is anyone paying for AOL when they can use it for free. I use a wireless provider but AOL is my homepage. I do like the new look, but I am so sorry that others are being shortchanged by AOL. I stop paying for this a few years ago.

Introducing the new AOL ..............that's a joke!!!!!! Go back to the drawing board and try to get it right before you throw out garbage to your long standing customers and then don't expect new ones with the way you run things.

Like most everyone else here, I had my web site on AOL Hometown too. Mine was on since May, 1996. I’ve been a paying member since 1995. When AOL went to a free service, I continued my pay-for-service plan. I thought that, since I was receiving a derived benefit from my website being hosted on AOL, it was only fair that I should put something back into the pot. Stupid ME!!!! Well, I did get the AOL email notifying me about the shutdown and I retrieved my files before the power went off. But the search engine positioning & all the external links to the site are gone forever. I'm up and running again, my new URL is http://www.typewriterdepot.com and is hosted by a more reliable company than AOL. I will start all over again.
My parting comments to the AOL staff that made this decision are, how dumb can you get? Why walk away from this business when you can charge for the service? Or sell it if you don’t want it. Are you in some sort of self-destruct mode? Are you actually getting paid to make these decisions? I am sure that folks would have paid for this valuable service. It’s no surprise to me that AOL is in the pickle it’s in these days. THIS WAS THE DUMBEST DECISION I’VE SEEN MADE IN A LONG TIME. I don’t know who’s steering this ship but it’s sad.
Amen.
