Hopefully you've had a chance to try out some of the new features that let you personalize your home page. We wanted to let you how we store those preferences, so you can prevent the changes you've made to your home page from being lost. Any time you make changes to your home page, like adding sites to My Links, feeds to the RSS reader or choosing a theme, we store those preferences in a secure "cookie" on your computer. Basically, the cookie allows us to remember the changes you've made and deliver your home page to you the way that you want each time you go to AOL.com. We use cookies on AOL.com so that you are not required to login to the AOL network or even have an AOL screen name to be able to still use and save our personalization features.
We've received feedback from some you that the changes you've made have disappeared or didn't stick, and we understand how frustrating that would be since you invested the time to personalize.
What's happening in these circumstances is that your "cookies" are being deleted. Again, we use cookies to store your individual choices or preferences, so when that cookie is deleted the changes you've made to your home page get cleared away
However, there are ways that you can protect your cookies or private data. Sometimes your browser default settings might not allow cookies or could be set to delete your cookies every time you close it. But you can easily change your browser settings. Here's some information to help you check and update your browser settings.
Internet Explorer
To check your browser settings click click the "Alt" key and "T" keys simultaneously and your "Tools" menu should drop down from the top of your browser window automatically.

Then select "Internet Options" from the menu and then the "Privacy" tab.

If your settings are listed as Medium/High or higher, you may need to manually add AOL.com as a site from which you will allow cookies to save your settings. To add AOL.com, just click on the "Sites" button and then type www.aol.com in the input field then click "Allow". That's it.

If your Privacy settings are Medium or lower, you should not have to worry about losing your choices unless you manually choose to delete
Firefox
To check your browser settings click the "Alt" and "T" keys simultaneously and your "Tools" menu should drop down from the top of your browser window. Select "Options" from the menu and then select the "Privacy tab. ". Make sure that the checkboxes in the Cookies section are checked and that "Keep Until" is set as "until they expire".
Safari
For you Safari users, you can find similar setting by clicking Alt-E and then click on the "Security" tab. Make sure that the Accept Cookies setting is set to Always or Only from sites you navigate to (make sure its not set as Never).

If you are feeling very tech savvy, and you do want to delete cookies, you can go in and save the cookie named "uauserid". I'll spare you the details on how to do this as I have a feeling anyone who wants to venture down this path likely knows their way around pretty well already. If you do need help, please do drop us a comment here and we'll be sure to respond.
We are working on a solution that will let you bind your home page preferences to your AOL or potentially other external accounts, which we hope to release later this year. The benefit of this feature is that you can sign in to any computer at any time and have your home page reflect your preferences.
So, hopefully this information has helped. But if you still have issues or questions, there are some additional FAQs here or feel free to post of comment or send us feedback and we'll be sure to respond.

There is NO "Edit" button by My Stuff, nor are there any left/right arrows. I do not like the "stuff" you put on for me and want to change back to my original ones but am unable to do so without direction buttons. Help.

Lizanne,
It sounds like you might accidently be in whats called "screen reader friendly mode" which is to help with accessibility for those who need it by disabling some of pages features.
Try clicking on this link: http://www.aol.com/?sr=0& and that should give you a page with the edit options for My Stuff.
Hope this helps!

I have been trying to transfer my contacts, etc. since you changed over. Somehow I keep going in circles and never manage to get them.
Even though my password works to open my mail, when I try to use it to transfer the data the password is not accepted. Can someone help?

Yeah...Right!!!! If any of you fall for this you are crazy, just as those are who us Internet Explorer. You leave these Cookies on your computer and AOL is watching, monitoring, and saving all of your browsing habits and sites that you visit.
FIREFOX people should check "Accept" on the cookies option, then set to "Keep Until" - ' I close Firefox'. Accept no 3rd Party Cookies" either. It's a good idea to "Clear Private Data" as well just to be safe.
Doing this will help cut down on your Pop-Ups too. Anyone that is in cahoots with Google in any way are all WATCHING YOU.

Thank you Sanjay!!! I've been using AOL for 10 years, and recently went "free" because AOL did not offer broadband in my area. I continue to use my AOL software, as well as AOL webmail without a hitch. I love it that all of my AOL Favorites are so nicely integrated into my IE Links on the Homepage!!!
I deeply appreciate AOL's efforts with regard to all of the recent transitions. After 10 years, I was able to take advantage of most of what AOL offered, including: Hometown, FTP, Groups, My AOL Free Phone number, Myeaddress (and my domain name), AOL YGP, and XDRIVE!
Like everyone else registered with AOL and AIM, I received multiple notices from every service that I used about discontinuing each service. I am grateful for the specific instructions for moving my stuff.
I took advantage of that information to register and migrate everything elsewhere, including MYeaddress, pictures, and FTP space, downloading what I couldn't migrate to my PC using Web Folders in XP. I would like to say Thank You to everyone who made that possible.
For those who did not get the word, for whatever reason, I am dumbfounded. Even if the notices and information were not found in your mailbox, one could not miss the early warnings posted at every affected service. There were warnings everywhere, ie: Hometown, YGP, etc. AOL did a fine job to help us all.
Reading is power. Clearly some of you didn't read what is printed below "Add Your Comments" prior to posting here.

I noticed my comments I left about not wanting face-book,my-space, Be-Bo and other communication websites connecting everyone from the united states to Greece and all over the world that do cause friendship, possibly relationship and face to face communication problems very easily and should of never been added on to aol.com on search engines
