The solution you indicate to the problem of losing one's personalizations (e.g. not to delete the aol.com cookie) is no solution at all, at least on Firefox. In order to retain the cookie until it expires, one would need to retain all cookies until they expire. Of course, this creates a terrible liability to one's security. sbs

I am not interested in "personalizing my homepage." I'm just trying to read my email. Every time I click on that link it leads me to this page. AOL is a total mess and keeps getting worse. AOL really threw me a curve when you destroyed all the user websites. I had much information displayed there which I was ultimately planning on stitching together as a book. Some of my websites had high Google rankings when those specific topics were searched. Thanks, AOL. Now may I read my email, please?

Did you discover how to locate/recover the "Favorites"...I have the same problem and have been searching for a solution..Help!!!!

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble finding your Favorites! We assume you are referring to your list of Favorite links or feeds that you have previously stored in AOL software. If that's not the case, please let us know.

If you are using AOL 8.0, 9.0 or 9.1 software, your Favorites are saved on AOL's servers and will be available on any computer using AOL software. To load AOL 9.1 to gain access your old Favorites, go to http://downloads@aol.com.

To get access to your Favorites on the Web using any Web browser, go to http://favorites.aol.com, sign in and then click on the Bookmarks or Feeds tabs accordingly depending on which Favorites you are looking for. If this is your first time using the Favorites site, you will get a pop-up asking you if you would like to import your old Favorites from AOL. Saying yes to this will populate all of your Favorites from your AOL software for the specific account you are signed on as. You can go back to this site in the future anytime to access your list of Favorites.

You can also add a shortcut to AOL Favorites in your My Links section of the new AOL.com experience in the upper-left hand corner of the screen under the AOL logo. Click on Add New Link, type in the url http://favorites.aol.com and the title Favorites and click Add. This way you will always have a shortcut to the site.

If you were using an older version of the AOL software like 6.0 or 7.0, you may have opted to store your favorites on your computer. If that's the case, you will need to restore or move your old Filing Cabinet file. You can follow the directions at this help article to do this.

You can try to get them in the Desktop AOL. That is different than the aol.com site I did manage to bring up all my old stuff, how I'm not sure, but it is in there. lol good luck!!
What I need help on is getting the Christmas desktop wallpaper that AOL used to have free, of course. It stayed on your desktop when you were reading emails or anything. I cannot find it this year. Does anyone know how to get this or where? HAGD

I rec'd the notice about Homepage shutting down and obviously, like others, didn't act in time to do anything about it. (AOLers are mostly newbies but this oldtimer doesn't know how to save a page, either! If ppls pages are avail on some web archive site, you should make that fact prominent on yoursite in BOLD RED LETTERS!)

Mine is just a basic page I'll have to recall which of my 85 URL's that pointed to it as a "redirect". (AOL just lost some free advertising!)

But for all of the poor souls (some of them even dead, their only presence their AOL page, think of ALL of the memorial pages!), May You Rest in Peace.

I THOUGHT I WAS PAYING approx $15 PER MONTH for the feature you just deleted - it set me apart from the "Free AOLers"... The pages provided searchable results that would never be found on a major search engine. I brought AOLers together. It PERSONALIZED AOL, made AOL a shard experience, put usrs ON THE SAME PAGE. You just took anonline community and hosed them all into space - literally.

Bless those in Active Combat who haven't had the chance to log on recently.

Do you know HOW MANY PEOPLE are sad, even depresed and angry "you" did this? No sweat on my end (I never put all of my eggs in one basket) but some people's comments on that AOL Blog read like their homepage was their life.

Which reminds me - a long ago I bought MyLifeMyWebsite.com and I better check I that it's not forwarding to my now defunct page! sigh.

AOL did not notify us, and we almost lost a ton of valuable data on our cold tolerance research in the cryobiology of Trachycarpus and Rhapidophyllum palms, stored on Hometown.

Some AOL users were not notified, and some were. We were not.

Because Wayback archived the data, we were able to retrieve it.

AOL; you owe Wayback a hearty thanks, because it save you from an embarrassing lawsuit. However, the closure without proper notice act was shabby, and it cost you our company business.
