The new Netscape.aol.com now brings you all the great features and capabilities of AOL.com which has been carefully redesigned around the people who use it every day - like you! Over the years, we've evolved our homepage to help you simplify the Web and your life, which both only seem to get more complicated.

Some features of the updated Netscape.aol.com include:

  • The News You Need: The redesigned page will highlight feature stories, entertainment news, sports and finance content, plus the latest national, world and breaking news.

  • Featured Video: Keep an eye out for original videos being promoted front-and-center on the page with an improved wide screen player to really improve your video viewing pleasure. We are bound to have something to entertain you in this spot!

  • Page Canvases: The new page design provides many choices for you to personalize the look and feel of your homepage with our vibrant canvases. Until you chose your favorite, the canvases will randomly change to give you something new each time you come back to the page. Our canvases are not simply background graphics to liven up your desktop – they're bona-fide works of art! You can choose your background by clicking on "Change Canvas" in the upper right of the page or to check out all of the canvases and learn more about the artists behind them, visit the AOL Artists site.

  • You've Got Mail: And AIM and Radio and Search! Quick access to your favorite essentials are just a click away at the top right of the screen next to the Search box. Once you log in, you will still be able to preview your mail just as you did previously by hovering your mouse over the mail icon which displays a count of your current unread mail.

  • Most Popular: The Most Popular module on the right side of the page makes sure you know the top viral stories that the AOL community is reading and sharing.

  • Trending Now: Keep your finger on the pulse on the trending topics on the net with the latest hot search terms.

All in all, we hope you agree that the new Netscape.aol.com is a big improvement on the old design – it provides all the great content you've come to expect, but visually the page is cleaner and easier to read and navigate. Since we run one of the most trafficked sites on the Web, we don't take changes lightly. We greatly appreciate the Netscape audience who we know has been with us for a long time and have seen lots of changes throughout the years. Your experience drives everything we do and your feedback is invaluable. Thanks for letting us listen, and keep the feedback coming!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Why are you changing Netscape.aol.com?
A: Consumers have been telling us they were ready for a new homepage. We listened, heard what consumers were asking for, and made changes accordingly. We're excited to bring you this redesigned page that's not only easier on the eyes but puts your news, information, and fun right at your fingertips.

Q: What will I find on the new Netscape.aol.com?
A: The news you need, when you need it, high-quality original video and stories, quick access to mail and AIM and much much more!

Q: Is this new page going take forever to load?
A: Actually, we anticipate that this page will be noticeably faster. Score one for technology!

Q: What if I have an older machine?
A: The page should load for you just fine even if you have an older machine. If you haven't updated your Adobe Flash player in a while, you may get a prompt to upgrade when you click to watch a video.

Q: What if I have an older Web browser?
A: We test our pages thoroughly on a lot of different Web browsers, including older versions. However, it is recommended that you keep your Web browser as up-to-date as you can, as some degradation may occur on many websites in the future as newer browsers are released and older versions fall further behind. If you have an old web browser, now might be a great time to upgrade to the latest version of your favorite browsers to make sure you have all the features to help you surf faster, easier and safer. You can find the latest version of Internet Explorer here and the latest version of Firefox here.

Q: What happened to some of the features I liked on the old Netscape.aol.com?
A: Not all of the features from the previous page are part of the new experience.

Q: Where is my Mail Preview?
A: Mail Preview is still available if you hover over the AOL Mail button (the blue envelope to the right of the search box). If the space is not expanding, it's likely that you are not signed into the page. Make sure you click "Sign In" in the upper right corner of the page. Once you're signed in with your AOL screenname, you will be able to preview your last 4 unread mails or click to compose a message right from your homepage.

Q: Where is my Gmail or Yahoo Preview?
A: The new netscape.aol.com does not have third party mail integration at this time. We encourage you to try AOL's new Phoenix mail service, which is blazing fast and provides some cool useful new features to simplify your email and other online communications. Phoenix also lets you aggregate multiple email accounts (Yahoo mail, Gmail, Hotmail, Comcast and many more!) so you can manage all your email accounts in one place.
